Do you have crooked teeth or a bad bite? Ask Dr. John R. Schouten about how braces in Price, Utah, can help you. Do not think that since you did not have your teeth straightened as a child that it is too late. Braces can help children, teens, and adults alike!

Braces are can be made from different materials. Traditional braces are made of metal. However, for those who are hesitant about wearing metal brackets and wires, we offer cosmetic braces. These braces have brackets and wires that are made from clear or tooth-colored material. During your consultation, discuss your options with our orthodontist to find the best treatment for you.

Braces apply continuous pressure over time to gently move the teeth in the desired direction. There are many components involved in making the movement of the teeth possible.

Orthodontic bands: Wrap around each tooth to hold the brackets in place. They can be made from clear, tooth-colored, or stainless steel materials. Orthodontic bands are not used in all cases.

Arch wires: These attach to the brackets and guide the movement of the teeth. They can be made from metal or from clear or tooth-colored materials.

Elastics or rubber bands:
These hold the arch wires to the brackets. Elastics or rubber bands can also be attached to hooks on the brackets and worn between the upper and lower teeth. This applies pressure and moves the upper teeth against the lower teeth to achieve an ideal fit for individual teeth.

Brackets: The brackets are bonded to the front of each tooth or are attached to orthodontic bands. The brackets hold the arch wires in place that move the teeth.
